Bird Spotting at Compton Verney #CVGrounds

A short and sweet post today with an image or two of some Great Spotted Woodpeckers (and more!) from the #CVGrounds team at Compton Verney.

Many thanks to Alwyn for spotting the nest initially, and for inspiring most of the team to reach for their cameras and become wildlife photographers! We hope you like the results.

If like me you’re inspired following the wildlife extravaganza that is Springwatch, and you’re able to visit Compton Verney of course then there are many more bird species to tempt your lense. On the lake just now we’re all enjoying the Great Crested Grebe’s, and Coot’s, and despite their droppings all across the lawns; there’s a handsome gaggle of Greylag geese and their goslings.

You might catch a glimpse of the heron, although he’s a little shy of the camera and generally prefers his own space. However with much lakeside marginal growth, there’s a good chance of a spotting a Reed Warbler or even the kingfisher.

In summary – if you enjoy wildlife, photography, or simply like to find a spot in the park to sit and soak up a slice of our brilliant countryside; then consider a visit to Compton Verney – you might be pleasantly surprised! Do check the website for more information.

p.s. Don’t forget, there is a great opportunity to get more involved and experience wildlife with The Wildlife Trust’s #30DaysWild initiative; happening all through June. I’m involved and you might like to see an explanatory article called 30 Days Wild, or check out the #CVGrounds tagboard!
